Traveling to Las Vegas with Mobility Aids

Las Vegas is a pretty easy place to get around with mobility aids.  In fact many of the hotels have mobility aids you can rent if you don't want to bring your own on the plane.  For example at the Bellagio Resort you can rent a manual wheelchair or a mobility scooter.   I usually bring my own mobility aids.

The first time I went to Las Vegas with a mobility aid I took a cane as I was in a walking boot.  Having the cane gave me freedom to get around pretty much anywhere someone with out a mobility issue could go.  On that trip we took a very short hike to the 7 Magic Mountains art exhibit in the desert.  It was a very short distance to the rocks from the parking area so it was not very difficult.   It is gravel and sand though so this may be more difficult if you are in a wheelchair or using a walker.  The ground was pretty compact for the most part but you may need a little help navigating the area if your wheelchair wheels slip in gravel.  Using a hiking walker with larger wheels would not be a problem.  7 Magic Mountains Link

One of our favorite places to visit in Las Vegas is the Conservatory at the Bellagio.  It changes seasonally and is quite beautiful!  That I have visited with my cane, walker, and transport chair.  The hotels in Vegas are very large so it you do need to rest while walking with your cane you may want to bring one that has a seat on it.  Also walkers with seats are very helpful for when you need to take a little break when there are no chairs.  The Conservatory is a little walk through the lobby of the hotel but can be a long walk if coming from another hotel.  My son pushed me there from the Vadara in my transport chair because even though it is connected it is a long walk.   The transport chair is not visible in the picture as I was taking a selfie of my son and I.  The second picture is another trip where I took my indoor walker.  It worked great for getting around and it has a seat I could sit on but I did tire out quite a bit when using that one alone.  Bellagio Conservatory link

Another fun place to visit that has mobility access is the garden at the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory in Henderson near by.  You have to drive there as it is far away from the strip but we have rented a car more often since becoming less mobile.  That way we can get off the strip to do some fun things and can get around from hotel to hotel easier.  Being a member of one of the casino cards is helpful because with all MGM hotels if you get to a certain level you can park free at any of their hotels.  We availed ourselves of this often.  I used my hiking walker for the garden at the chocolate factory.  There are ramps so it is accessible for walkers and wheelchairs.  While you are there enjoy a cup of their hot cocoa!  It is amazing!  Ethel M.     There are so many things to do in Vegas that it is not hard to find something new to do!  We enjoy many of the parks around the Las Vegas area.  Some are accessible more than others.  The Red Rock Canyon park you can drive around which makes it very accessible.  One great place to visit over by the Red Rocks is Red Rock Springs Conservation area.  It is a small conservation picnic area that has a ramped trail.  I was able to do that trail with my cane but when we went back with my regular walker I didn't feel like I could make it up the hill.  I would like to try it again some day with my chair.   You can see the walk way that goes all around it in this picture of my husband and son.  Red Rock Canyon Link

One more fun place to go that is a bit of a drive but well worth it is the Lion Habitat Ranch.  There you can wheel around freely!  It has paved walkways which is very nice!  Also there are some amazing experiences you can have there!  One of my most favorite experiences is Painting with Ozzie the giraffe.  You can also feed Ozzie too!  I got to do both and it was such a blessing and so amazing.  I went there just one month after having to get my first walker.  It really boosted my spirit to have such a wonder experience.  Lion Habitat Ranch Link

I will be adding even more fun activities that are accessible in Las Vegas soon!
